Welcome to the Foundation Unit
The Foundation Unit at Whittonstall First School ensures that your child receives the best start to their education possible.
| Our Foundation Unit has places for thirteen children who will reach their 4th birthday and fourteen children who will reach their 5th birthday during the academic year in which they are admitted to school. |

The Nursery children attend school between 9-11.30 a.m. while the Reception age children stay until 3.15 p.m. daily. The children work together for the majority of the morning, only being separated for playtimes and for the session after play when they have activities specifically aimed at their needs.
Our Classroom has facilities that are specifically designed for this age group with separate toilets, kitchen area and washing facilities. Our equipment is designed to enable the children to work effectively and with independence whilst ensuring they feel part of the main school and progress through the school smoothly.
